qEEG testing documents abnormalities in electrical relationships between major areas of the brain by comparing the patient's results with chronological peers and a normative database.  These results are particularly valuable whenever there is a question of Attention-Deficit\Hyperactivity Disorder, Asperger's, Autism, Closed Head Injury, Learning Disabilities, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Dementia, etc.. 

In addition, qEEGs provide us with very specific "targeted" information for effective use during neurofeedback training. In fact, many clinicians believe qEEG-driven neurofeedback is more effective and cost efficient than  neurofeedback alone.

Neurofeedback is now a scientifically-validated treatment for stress, traumatic brain injury, attention-deficit\hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, stroke, epilepsy, etc., when based on QEEG findings. 

Scientific research indicates that we are actually making longstanding beneficial changes to the brain with neurofeedback. For example, Dr. Joel Lubar, at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, completed 10- and 15-year followup studies for patients treated with neurofeedback for ADHD. Dr. Lubar found that the participants in this study were basically doing as well as they had upon terminating their original treatment with neurofeedback. 

Unfortunately, most physicians are either unfamiliar with, or have not been properly educated about, the clinical application of qEEG, biofeedback, HEG, and neurofeedback, despite the voluminous amount of existing scientific research and its clinical use since the early 1970s available for review on the National Library of Medicine's web page.
