Mrs. Phyllis Wharton-James is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of South Carolina. She received her Master of Science degree in Counseling from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
In addition, she is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Mrs. Wharton-James is also a Professional member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association 9AMHCA) and the South Carolina Mental Health Counselors Association (SCMHCA).
Prior to joining MCA, Mrs. Wharton-James worked as the Program Director of Acute Services at the Lighthouse Care Center of Conway in Conway, South Carolina, a Behavioral Assessment\Inpatient Therapist at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Child\Family Therapist at Center Point Human Services in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Adolescent Substance Abuse Counselor for Step One in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Mrs. Wharton-James has an extensive background in mental health counseling, substance abuse, and family therapy as well as the treatment of psychiatric disorders. She specializews in the dianosis and treatment of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and substance abuse.
