Mrs. Phyllis Wharton-James is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of South Carolina. She received her Master of Science degree in Counseling from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
In addition, she is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and has met the qualifications for Board Certification as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. She is also Board Certified in Integrative Medicine with the American Association of Integrative Medicine.
Mrs. Wharton-James is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association 9AMHCA), the South Carolina Mental Health Counselors Association (SCMHCA), and the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research ISNR).
Prior to joining MCA, Mrs. Wharton-James worked as the Program Director of Acute Services at the Lighthouse Care Center of Conway in Conway, South Carolina, a Behavioral Assessment\Inpatient Therapist at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Child\Family Therapist at Center Point Human Services in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Adolescent Substance Abuse Counselor for Step One in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Mrs. Wharton-James has an extensive background in mental health counseling, substance abuse, and family therapy as well as the treatment of psychiatric disorders. She specializews in the dianosis and treatment of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and substance abuse.
